Body Mass Index Calculator
Body Mass Index (BMI) ia a quantitative measurement of body size. The formula developed in the 1830s by Lambert Adolphe Jacques Quetelet, historically has proven to be a sufficiently accurate calculation of an average individual's body fat levels.
BMI is also referred to as the Quetelet index and for adults is frequently used as a screening tool, these are the notable demarcations.
BMI of 18.49 or below: underweight
BMI of 18.5 - 24.9: healthy range
BMI of 25 - 29.9: overweight
BMI of 30 or above: obese
BMI is not perfect, the equation has an innate inability of considering muscle mass or fat mass differences in weight.
